Online Class: Timing Is Everything: How to Pitch The Media During The Time Of Coronavirus

Hi. This is Katie talking. Before we get into the TuneUp details below (which is going to be AWESOME), I wanted to update you on Tin Shingle and the coronavirus. I have wanted to write you so many articles, but I have been scooped up by the local media here in Beacon, NY because New York is one of many states is that is dealing with and preparing for coronavirus in a major way. Coronavirus: coming to a state near you. We have been blogging breaking news, and basic news like where kids who are not in school can pick up their free lunch, etc. 

Here is what we are doing Coronavirus-wise here at Tin Shingle:

Coronavirus # hashtag cheat sheet. As you share in social media, you want to use the most relevant hashtags. This will help the media find you and possibly pick up what you are doing. The media is frantically looking for story ideas, tips, breaking news. You can get into these flows. Normally for our Media Kit Members only, we are putting this on our blog for all to use for free.

Local Media Contacts: We are inputting LA and the Hudson Valley of New York. Editorial Calendars: We have a bunch in, but are stopping this research in order to do more Media Contact updating.

Working Remotely: We work this way anyway, so nothing has changed here! Except that our kids are surrounding us 24/7 and we are now "Substitute Teachers" as we have been given supplemental School From Home material. School is probably done for New York and Ohio, and others. Unless this #FlattenTheCurve movement works and a major change happens fast enough. So Social Distance! 

This TuneUp is all Coronavirus COVID-19. If you're not aware of how this pandemic has taken over the news cycle, then you need to wake up right now :) If you are aware, AWESOME! This call is all about how to pitch the media something very relevant that may get picked up very quickly. People are spending money. People are holding on to money. Lots of content is being created. Media is looking for: feel-good stories, resource stories, breaking news. There is SO MUCH going on at one time, that informing a news outlet right now is what we need to do.
