[PR] TuneUp: What to Pitch This Month: November

Tin Shingle Helps You Get Organized & Start Planning

A favorite of listeners, the What To Pitch This Month series demystifies the ins and outs of the PR and pitching world giving you confidence and skills to have success in making buzz about your business.  This training TuneUp is streamlined to help you:

  • Prep your PR pitching campaigns AND blog/social media content planning.
  • Pump you with relevant story ideas, topics, and themes to use now!

Utilize Tin Shingle's Live Editorial Calendar Database

During this TuneUp you get a sneak peek into Tin Shingle's private member-only database which contains editorial calendars from editors at glossy print magazines. These give the public clues about what they are working on and how you can get their attention with your pitches. We will cover:

  • Short Leads (What's trending right now and how you can use social media -or even last minute pitches- to create buzz about your biz during the month of Thanksgiving.)
  • Medium Leads (What is of interest to websites, blogs, tv, and celebrity weeklies - Holiday stories you can still pursue placement.)
  • Long Leads (What print magazines are working on for 2018 that you need to be pitching now. Hint: Valentine's Gift Guides!)

Are you ready for a TuneUp Takeover? Tin Shingle's Co-founder, Katie Hellmuth Martin, may be on maternity leave but, Editorial Calendar Correspondent Ashley Cox is taking over! (For this TuneUp anyway, during the "What To Pitch This Month" Series) She is reporting in on what deadlines are approaching in the Editorial Calendars from Tin Shingle's Database as well as what themes we are seeing in 2017 holiday gift guides. (Yes you need to be pitching those now.)

As always, this "What To Pitch This Month: July" Training TuneUp Webinar series covers three major areas of your PR pitching and social media campaigning:

  • Long Lead (what areas of interest the print magazines are working on right now)
  • Medium Lead (what areas of interest websites and celebrity weeklies are working on right now)
  • Short Lead (what is trending right now and you can sneak into your social media or last minute pitches into blogs and TV shows.

[PR] TuneUp: What to Pitch This Month: June

Summer is starting and so is your summer pitching to magazines, TV and newspapers. This episode features Ashley Cox, our Editorial Calendar Corespondent, who is reporting in from what deadlines are approaching in the Editorial Calendars from Tin Shingle's database. Additionally, we are having a quick PR Pop-In from PR Specialist Misty Schwartz from the Schwartz Entertainment Media Group, to give us the scoop on what she's hearing from the trenches.

As always, this "What To Pitch This Month" Training TuneUp Webinar series covers three major areas of your PR pitching and social media campaigning:

  • Long Lead (what areas of interest the print magazines are working on right now)
  • Medium Lead (what areas of interest websites and celebrity weeklies are working on right now)
  • Short Lead (what is trending right now and you can sneak into your social media or last minute pitches into blogs and TV shows.

MAJOR HINT: Watch this TuneUp, guys, because here's the mind-bending rub for you: Most print magazines are done with summer. They've packed their bags and are tailgating for fall, and some are building their Holiday Gift Guides for winter. For real. If you wanted a big spread in a July issue, it's not going to happen. So try for fall! And listen to more TuneUps so that you get into the swing of things of how the media works, and when they work on certain ideas.

[PR] What to Pitch This Month: May

Every month we produce a broadcast with Katie Hellmuth Martin, Tin Shingle's co-founder, and Ashley Cox, Editorial Correspondent, to talk about "short lead" and "long lead" press ideas for that month.  Pitching can be overwhelming to many, especially if you are new at it. That is why this Tuneup streamlines the process, telling you what you should be pitching now, in the month of May.

In this Tuneup you will learn:

Katie Hellmuth Martin is an entrepreneurista. She started her first business, Katie James, Inc., a New York City based independent line for accessories and collectible pieces of clothing, in 2003. Two years later, she expanded her business to include a digital division called Studio Pixelated, a boutique website design and development firm offering website design, SEO consultation and implementation, social networking guidance, and ghost writing. Based on the needs of her clientele and entrepreneurial community she was a part of, Katie began developing training classes for creating SEO opportunities, the art of social networking, and writing for your blog. Through her blogging and social networking activities, Katie became known for her quick ability to naturally promote other independent brands and act as their evangelist. When Katie partnered with Sabina Ptacin and later Melissa Wildstein, they married their love of helping others with their ability to build a strong platform on which to support and showcase other businesses, which is how 'PRENEUR was formed.

As a Virtual Assistant (VA), I partner with entrepreneurs and small businesses offering administrative and marketing support to allow business owners more time in their schedule to focus on other things that are important to them. They can do this without having to hire a full time assistant and pay unnecessary expenses such as salary, benefits, office space and equipment, etc… In the end not only does the business owner save time and money, but they are more productive, more focused and have the time that they desire to work on building their business, spending time with family and loved ones and doing other things they enjoy.

With over a decade of creative and administrative experience as well as an A.A.S in Visual Communications, I’m passionate about learning and staying on top of the latest trends in modern business and online marketing to continuously help my clients grow and reach new levels in their business.

In 2009 I was fortunate enough to move myself and my family back to my hometown of Hancock, MI which was a long time dream of mine come true. I am so excited to have the ability to do what I love in a place that is so dear to my heart.

When I’m not working, I love spending time with my husband and daughter and my three cats. I also enjoy nature photography, reading and creative writing.
