SABINA PTACIN Chief Excitement Officer Co-Founder If entrepreneurship is a drug, Sabina is its pusher! She serves as the Chief Excitement Officer of Tin Shingle and is also the co-founder and chief brand strategist at Red Branch Public Relations, a social media and public relations consultancy in New York City. Prior to living and working in NYC, Sabina taught high school on Chicago's South Side and designed history and political science curriculum for the Bill Gates Charter Schools. She moved to New York City on a whim in 2005 to "start her New York Chapter" where a chance job opportunity led her to discovering her love of public relations, and within a year she started a boutique agency specializing in lifestyle brands and entrepreneur-run companies. She began her second business two years later which later evolved into Tin Shingle and has had a love affair with entrepreneurship ever since. Sabina has been featured as an expert on entrepreneurship, small business, social media and public relations with such press outlets as ABC News, Forbes, USA Today, Better TV, the University of Michigan, The Emerging Designer Speaker Series, Tory Johnson’s Spark & Hustle Tour and more. She is also a columnist along with the rest of the Tin Shingle team for The Hustle, a workplace blog from the creators of The Knot & The Nest. Sabina believes that entrepreneurship is the new black and that it allows one to live their best life, steer their own ship and is an opportunity that should be accessible and possible for all who feel the pull to create their own business. She is thus thrilled to be part of the Tin Shingle team, finding new ways to serve entrepreneurs of all kinds on a daily basis. She resides in Brooklyn, New York. KATIE HELLMUTH MARTIN Chief Experience Officer Co-Founder Katie started her entrepreneurial path moonlighting a graphic designer, and then an accessories designer for her label, Katie James Inc. This required a lot of night-and-weekend-working (wait, did that ever change?). Had you asked her at that time, she wouldn't have considered herself an entrepreneur - she was just a person who wanted to use her skills to design and write for a living, as a way to lead a lifestyle on her terms, and to not be restricted to a two-week vacation. Today, Katie is a co-founder and creator of Tin Shingle, as well as the lead designer for this website and heads up Tin Shingle's digital department. She is the founder and digital producer at Studio Pixelated, a website design and development boutique specializing in design, user experience, SEO, and social media strategy. Her first business, and ongoing passion project, is the fashion design company, Katie James Inc, where she designs accessories and has them produced in Alabama. Katie teaches business classes in SEO for Tin Shingle, Studio Pixelated, and the business community center, In Good Company. She has been quoted as a small business expert, as well as for online presence in New York Daily News, Forbes, The Brisbane Times, and other publications. Throughout her journey, Katie was a blogger, first for FashionMista.com, where she frequently featured emerging designers, and currently for A Little Beacon Blog, where she highlights local business in her hometown of Beacon, New York. Katie has always promoted other independent brands and admired their unique approaches to running and growing their businesses, and continues to do that at Tin Shingle. MICHAEL PARRISH Lead Developer Michael Parrish, Lead Developer for Tin Shingle, is the owner of Parrish Web Design, a central Pennsylvania-based web design and development company. Founded in 2004, Parrish Web Design serves small- to medium-sized businesses throughout North America and Europe, which includes a longstanding business relationship with Studio Pixelated, owned by Tin Shingle co-founder Katie Hellmuth Martin. Michael has been programming since first learning BASIC at the age of 8, and began designing and coding for the web in 1997. Parrish Web Design specializes in PHP development, as well as database management and complex CSS/javascript layouts. In addition to his design work, Michael also pursues other creative outlets by being an avid musician and photographer.
